297 blank cards sent to Soldiers overseas
Here are the bundles of cards we made at MaryBeth's house. Each bundle has 10 cards of various occasions and each card has an envelope. This all started because MaryBeth knows someone who's son is overseas already and her own nephew will be going over shortly. Many of the Soldiers dont have the opportunity to go get cards to send home... or have the selection like we do. So she asked me if I would help her and a few others make some. Well I had a ton of card fronts from card swaps with other SU demonstrators from years past as well as extras from 2 years worth of stamp camps. So I brought the main card parts and we got together and did an assembly line. Bea was cutting the back of the cards and scoring them to fold, MT and Paula were attaching the card fronts to the backs so they opened and had blank insides, Rebecca stamped "hand stamped with love" on the back of each one, MaryBeth added an envelope to each one and sorted by occasion. I just fluttered around helping with each part. Then we all got them together and did bundles tied together for easy handling. We counted 297. That is a lot of cards coming back to the states for loved ones... Happy Birthday, Congrats, Holidays, Sympathy, and a bunch of Miss you's.
Here is MT, Bea and Paula working like little bees
Here is MaryBeth and Rebecca in the other hive working away
Cut, fold, adhere, pass
Of course we all brought a snack... but MaryBeth made this yummy strawberry tort. Almost too pretty to cut into but I fought that urge right away and Rebecca and I ate a piece.. yum. Had some to bring back home and ate all that too.
Thanks to MaryBeth and all the ladies for a great time and certainly a good cause.
